But if you do have some great ideas of your own, I can help you bring those ideas into focus and produce a fully featured website.
Development
Not only do I deliver on design but I can bring your ideas to life and provide you or your company with a website that not only conveys your company image, but provides your customers with a rich viewing experience. I can cater for a range of requirements from e-commerce to a fully content managed site with your own blog.
Hosting
Don't have a domain name or hosting package? I can take care of that for you. I take the pain out of hosting your website by managing everything for you. You won't have to deal with any third-party hosting companies and you can leave the technical side to me.
Support
Once you are happy with your new website and it goes live, it doesn't have to end there! I can offer support for as long as you need. If you don't have experience managing your own website I am more than happy to give training and advice. Alternatively, I can offer the means for you to manage your own content and I'll only be there when you need me.
My name is Robert Popplewell and I am a 37 year old web developer from the Bridgwater area. I am passionate about all things web related and have over 15 years' experience designing and developing websites. Since graduating from university in 2009 I have worked on a range of web projects from high traffic e-commerce sites to sites for small businesses.

A little more about me...
I am a competent and ambitious web developer. I always enjoy a challenge and strive to be the best at everything I do. I am particularly enthusiastic about responsive design and take a meticulous approach to all of my projects. I gain much satisfaction in producing quality websites and finding the most elegant solution to any given problem.
I strive to continuously improve my own skills in all areas of web and pride myself on keeping up to date with the latest technologies through continuous experimentation. I am an open source enthusiast and I am particularly interested in building websites using PHP frameworks that follow the OOP and MVC approach.
I pride myself on providing a complete service to all of my customers – taking as much stress as possible out of the experience. I am happy to give advice and welcome the chance to speak to you about your website. Please don't hesitate to contact me today to discuss your options.
Design
My weapon of choice has always been Photoshop and over the years I have become extremely confident using Photoshop for web design. I am also competent in Illustrator and have used it for web design and to create logos, leaflets and business cards. In the past I have also had experience working with designs created using Fireworks.
Front end development
I am very experienced in the use of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. I create websites that validate to the HTML5 specification, use the latest features of the CSS3 evolution and write my own JavaScript using the popular jQuery library.
Back end development
Most of my websites are developed in PHP and over the years I have become an extremely competent PHP developer. I also have experience with the open-source PHP framework CakePHP and have built web applications using this in the past. I also use the MySQL open-source database system and I have many years of experience implementing this for both small and large applications.
Other tools
I also use Bootstrap; this provides the framework for my responsive web designs. I regularly develop websites using WordPress and I have experience creating e-commerce websites with the open-source CMS Magento.

The Cannington Parish Council approached me looking for a brand new website to replace an existing one. They required a means of updating local residents about upcoming events and the latest news. The site also serves as an information resource for visitors and locals to find out about Cannington village and its history. It features local walks, leisure activities, a directory, maps and a large photo gallery.
The Cannington Neighbourhood Plan required a strong multi-functional platform to inform local residents about issues in the community. They wanted a forum to discuss relevant topics, and to collect opinions and ideas from the people living in Cannington. This was achieved by providing a fully content managed website so that the members of the plan can update the site content with village news and events and publish surveys and other resources.
Scan Film or Store was looking for a brand new website to replace an outdated one. They needed a way to promote their expertise and the range of services they offer to a wider audience. They now have the means to collect new customer queries and requirements and the ability to post a regular blog. They also have the ability to edit and create new site content and provide resources and downloads for new and existing customers.
Jasmar Accounting Services needed a complete revamp of their current branding. This involved taking their old logo, business cards, letter head and invoice templates and creating a completely new and fresh image for the company. The transformation included a new colour scheme and layout while still incorporating the signature Stag image.
